On July 18, at 10 am, analogue broadcasting will be shut down in Kolkheti Valley

On July 18, 2015, an analogue terrestrial broadcasting signal will be shut down in Kutaisi, Tkibuli, Tsageri, Poti, Chokhatauri, Ozurgeti, Zestaponi Martvili, Samtredia, Khoni and Senaki, also, the drawbacks of analog television transmitters will be shut down around the territories of the municipalities of Abasha, Bagdadi, Vani, Zestaponi, Zugdidi, Terjola, Lanchkhuti, Martvili, Ozurgeti, Samtredia, Senaki, Tkibuli, Kobuleti, Chokhatauri, Tskaltubo, Kharagauli, Khobi and Khoni.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Digital Broadcasting Agency of Georgia, GNCC and non-governmental organization “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” remind the population of Georgia once again, that in order to receive digital broadcasting, population will require a set-top-box equipment supporting DVB-T2 standard or a TV set. Also, to receive a guaranteed signal, the roof-mounted metric-decimeter antenna is required. However, in some cases it is possible to use a room antenna aimed towards the TV tower.

The step-by-step shut down of analogue terrestrial broadcasting signal is underway within Georgia that has begun on July 1, 2015, with Tbilisi’s broadcasting zone and is set to be completed by August 1, with the digital switchover of entire territory of Georgia. 

The meetings with locals are held in the regions together with analogue signal shut down. Parties involved in the process - The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Digital Broadcasting Agency of Georgia, GNCC, “TV Radio Center of Georgia” and non-governmental organization “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” supply those presented during the meetings with the detailed information about reform, also, the technical and practical explanations are given by the means of direct communication with the public.
