25 Companies Apply for Prolongation of Term of Broadcasting Licenses

 

A hearing on prolongation of the term of broadcasting licenses of 25 companies for next ten years was held today at the session of the Georgian National Communications Commission.

Pursuant to the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting a license is issued for a ten-year term. After the expiration of a license, the license holder is authorized to submit an application to the Commission for prolongation of the license for a next ten-year term.

25 companies applied to the Commission for prolongation of the broadcasting licenses for a next ten-year term. These companies are: TV and Radio Company Mtsvane Talga (Green Wave), TV Company Tbilisi, TV Company I Stereo, Independent Broadcasting Company Guria, Broadcasting Company Ninth Wave, Broadcasting Company Imervizia, TV Company Dia, Media Centre Open Abkhazia, Imperia, Kvenetadze and Company, TV and Radio Corporation TV Argo, Ecomi, TV and Radio Company Borjomi, TV and Radio Press Company Zari, Association Atinati, Radio Imedi, Radio Centre Plus, Radio Art, TV Company V Channel, TV and Radio Company Trialeti, TV and Radio Company Rioni, TV and Radio Company Nostalgia, Independent TV and Radio Company Odishi, Independent TV Company Mega TV, Tvali, TV and Radio Company Samegrelo.

The Commission took a decision on prolongation of broadcasting licenses of 24 companies; only the session of one company TV and Radio Company Samegrelo was postponed, because an unauthorized person represented the company. Besides, the company Samegrelo had not filled in the declaration of conformity. The company is given 10 working days to improve the violation. The notification about the hearing of the issue at the session will be published on the Commission’s website three days before the session.
