60 700 Subscribers of mobile networks have made use of number porting service. 55 000 subscribers out of this already use another mobile network operator service.

Ported numbers statistics is following: as from the date of number portability implementation Geocell is the leader according to the quantity of ported numbers. For now, namely for July 7, 2011, 16 300 subscribers of Geocell have ported their numbers to other mobile networks and 27 700 subscribers have ported their numbers to Geocell from other competitor companies.

Mobitel Ltd i.e. Beeline is on the second place, which has drawn 11 300 subscribers from other companies networks and 9 700 subscribers of Beeline have ported their numbers to other mobile companies.

As for Magticom Ltd, the company has drawn 15 800 subscribers to its network and 28 800 subscribers have ported their numbers from Magticom to other companies.

According to the ported numbers statistics, Geocell has increased the quantity of its own consumers by 11 400 subscribers, Beeline has acquired 1 600 subscribers and Magticom has lost 13 000 subscribers as from the date of porting service implementation.

The Georgian National Communications Commission explains that the success of implementation of number portability technology is measured not by the quantity of ported numbers but by supporting the development of keen competition between the mobile operators. Promoting the competition, on its side, will be reflected directly on the tariff policy of the operators. All this is done for the welfare of consumers, what is the main purpose of the Georgian National Communications Commission.
