and Legal Department of the Georgian National Communications Commission paid a visit to the Supreme Council of Audiovisual Broadcasting of France. The Commission’s visit to the capital of France was carried out and financed within the framework of the Council of Europe and European Union joint project “Promoting Freedom, Pluralism and Transparency of the Media in the South Caucasus and Moldova 2011-2012”.

Within a three-day official visit the representatives of the Commission shared experience of the French colleagues in the sphere of implementation of switchover to digital broadcasting. At the meetings parties talked about challenges existing during the process of switchover to digital broadcasting. They also discussed the country policy in the process of transition from analogue to digital broadcasting. The representatives of the Supreme Council of Audiovisual Broadcasting of France discussed the technical side of switchover to digital broadcasting and provided detailed information to the guests.

In France the digital switchover process was completed in 2011 and therefore their experience is undoubtedly interesting for Georgia.
