BTU, in Partnership with COMCOM, starts teaching Digital Literacy

Since the start of the new academic year, the Business and Technology University (BTU), in partnership with the Communications Commission, has been offering a new course, titled Digital Literacy and Cybernetics. Students of Bachelor and Master programs will be able to study important topics such as information literacy, cybernetics, cyber security, the basics of media economics, etc.

Furthermore, all students pursuing degrees in business communication and strategic communication at BTU will be taught the basics and main aspects of media literacy.

The teaching of media literacy as a new subject is an important component of the joint project by COMCOM and BTU that is designed to develop media literacy in Georgia. Prior to the start of the academic year, COMCOM helped devise recommendations for improving the new syllabus and various other areas of media literacy.

Starting from this academic year, COMCOM is implementing media literacy projects at the Tbilisi State University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and the Business and Technology University. The aforementioned projects will involve academic personnel and students, as well as international experts, with whom joint sessions, conferences and competitions will be organised.
