On July 9, Shida Kartli’s region transitions into digital broadcasting

On July 9, 2015, at 10 am, analogue terrestrial broadcasting will be shut down in the region of Shida Kartli, in particular: analogue TV transmitters located in the municipalities of Gori, Bekami, Dusheti and Khashuri.

Digital Broadcasting Agency under the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, GNCC and non-governmental organization “ “Institute for Development of Freedom of Information” once again calls upon the public, that in order to receive digital broadcasting population will require a set-top-box supporting DVB-T2 standard or TV set. Also, to receive a guaranteed signal, the roof-mounted metric-decimeter antenna is required. However, in some cases it is possible to use a room antenna aimed towards the TV tower.

In support of the population, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development as a result of negotiations with the banking sector have reached an agreement that has been already developed and put into practice in regards to purchasing set-top-boxes on credit at favorable terms.

The step-by-step shut down of analogue terrestrial broadcasting signal is underway within Georgia that has begun on July 1, 2015, with Tbilisi’s broadcasting zone and is set to be completed on August 1 with the digital switchover of entire territory of Georgia.
