COMCOM Holds Media Literacy Training for Ethnic Minority Representatives in the Civic Sector

The Communications Commission is holding a two-day training programme for local NGO representatives in regions with a high concentration of ethnic minorities, titled ‘The Effect of Misinformation on Civic Integration and the Importance of its Prevention.’ Media literacy as a tool to fight misinformation, its essence and principles, its role in countering stereotypes and fighting misinformation in the age of modern technology – these are some of the topics covered by COMCOM representatives during the training programme. It was also pointed out during the meeting that COMCOM is starting to implement media literacy projects in the regions, including in areas with a high concentration of ethnic minorities.

The initiative of organising this event belongs to the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality. The event is being implemented jointly with the Administration of the Government of Georgia and the Communications Commission, and with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the UN Association of Georgia (UNAG) and the Promoting Integration, Tolerance and Awareness (PITA) programme.
