COMCOM Takes Part in the First EPRA Online Media Literacy Conference

Development of media literacy, the existing challenges for media and information literacy, the importance of establishing a unified network and the plans for developing media literacy in Georgia – these are some of the issues discussed by the Head of Media Literacy Department at the Georgian National Communications Commission, Natia Kukuladze, at the recent online meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities (EPRA) member organisations.

For the first time, the annual round table format meeting, where organisations shared their experiences and best practices regarding media literacy with each other, took place online due to the global pandemic.

Natia Kukuladze presented a report about the activities and projects carried out by COMCOM. She also informed colleagues about the planned activities aimed at developing a unified network, including the creation of an online platform of national significance for hosting media literacy projects. The online platform will allow users to have access to all issues related to media literacy in a single space.

The meeting was conducted by British media literacy expert Martina Chapman and EPRA Deputy Chairwoman Maria Donde. Speeches were given by the coordinator of the Flemish Knowledge Centre for Digital and Media Literacy Andy Demeulenaere, Senior Adviser at the Swedish Media Council Martina Wagner and Head of Content and Media Literacy at the Communications Regulatory Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Lea Cengic.
