Commission Keeps Studying MTC Case

The Georgian National Communications Commission held monitoring of radio frequency spectrum to reveal illegal functioning of the Russian mobile operator (MTC) on the occupied territory (former South Ossetia) of Georgia.

Radio monitoring was once again held on November 1, 2013 and the use of radio frequency spectrum was checked on the territory of Shida Kartli region villages Ergneti, Ditsi, Dvani, Nikozi, Arbo, Mereti and Tergisi.

The Monitoring results confirmed the functioning of the Russian Federation mobile operator (mobile country code MCC 250 and mobile network code MNC 30) on the above-mentioned populated areas. Besides, the fact of locating base stations in Tskhinvali and its neighboring territory is confirmed. Nevertheless, identification of the mobile operator was not possible. The Georgian National Communications Commission keeps working to identify the subject who breaches the Georgian legislation to implement sanctions envisaged by the law.
