Communications Commission authorises Mtavari Arkhi as General Broadcaster

On 5 September, the Communications Commission changed Mtavari Arkhi’s authorisation status from ‘specialised entertainment broadcaster’ to that of ‘general broadcaster.’ Mtavari Arkhi applied for a change in its broadcasting authorisation status on 26 August. The Commission studied the documents submitted by the broadcaster and found that they fully satisfy the legal requirements. Mtavari Arkhi has been registered at the Departmental Registry as a private general broadcaster.

Mtavari Arkhi will begin broadcasting across Georgia on 9 September. The broadcaster will have a duty to comply with the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting, including the decrees and decisions of the Communications Commission and the terms of authorisation.
