The Chairman of the Georgian National Communications Commission, Irakli Chikovani, took part in the Conference “Implementation of Number Portability beyond Europe’s Borders”. The Conference was held in Barcelona. The Conference was organized by the European Commission and supported by Spain’s Telecommunications Market Commission.

The legal, technological and procedural matters of implementation of Number Portability were discussed within the framework of the two-day Conference. The experience of European countries in implementation and further development of Number Portability was also discussed.

At the Conference except for the European Union member countries, only Georgia made the presentation with a title “Number Portability implementation factors and experience of Georgia”.

The presentation made by the Georgian delegation, example of successful implementation of subscriber number porting, was responded by the countries which begin implementing of this service now. The representatives of the Regulatory Authorities of Ukraine and Moldova are planning to visit Georgia in nearest future and to observe the number porting implementation and management processes.
