European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) Conference in Tbilisi

On May 29-30, 2012 the Workshop/Conference of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) will be held at the Georgian National Communications Commission.

Two-day conference will be led by Adrian Scrase, ETSI Vice-President, International Partnership Projects, Michael Sharpe, ETSI Vice-President, Standardization Projects, and Igor Minaev, ETSI Technical Officer, Standardization Projects. The high officials in the field of telecommunications in Europe will discuss the following issues: ETSI introduction and overview; 3GPP Developments on LTE and 3GPP work on mobile TV, European Spectrum Regulation and Standards – Current/ Future activities – 800 MHz (digital dividend), 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2.3-2.4 GHz; Harmonized Standards and R&TTE Directive and New Standards for Digital TV (DVB-DAB).

 The employees of the Georgian National Communications Commission along with the representatives of the companies in the field of electronic communications and the member TV companies of the Association of Georgian Regional Broadcasters will attend the Conference.

European Telecommunications Standards Institute (www.etsi.org) is officially recognized by the Euro Commission as the authority of European standards in the field of telecommunications. The Institute sets universal standards for Information and Communication Technology, fixed, mobile, radio, broadcasting, Internet and other spheres.

Directives worked out by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute are guidance documents in the field of electronic communications and broadcasting not only for the countries of Europe but also for other countries. Therefore, sharing their experience is undoubtedly very interesting for the Georgian National Communications Commission as well as for the representatives of electronic communications and broadcasting spheres in Georgia.
