Georgian National Communications Commission Already Issued Three Licenses for General Broadcasting and Proceedings for Issuing Two Licenses Is in Process

 

After setting TV and radio broadcasting priorities according to the public opinion survey and resuming the issuance of broadcasting licenses the Georgian National Communications Commission has issued two licenses for general TV broadcasting through cable network to companies Igrika Ltd and Georgian TV Broadcasting Iveria. Besides, 1001 Announcements Newspaper Ltd will receive a general broadcasting license through cable network in mid October (if no difficult circumstances are revealed in process of proceedings).

The Commission also issued a radio broadcasting license. Shorena Shaverdashvili’s company Media House Decom Ltd received a license for general broadcasting in Tbilisi. The company plans to start practical work in March 2012. Shorena Shaverdashvili’s new radio will broadcast on FM 98.5 and will propose the following broadcasting programs to the listeners: news, social and political programs, educational and cognitive programs, youth’s programs, children’s programs, entertainment programs and sports programs.

The Georgian National Communications Commission announced a contest for one more license for general radio broadcasting. The seekers of broadcasting license on FM 100.6 in Terjola shall submit the applications to GNCC till October 31, 2011, 17:00. A hearing will be held on November 4, 2011.The contest will be held on December 2, 2011.

Besides, several broadcasters, including Radio Maestro, TV Company Trialeti and TV Company 25th Channel obtained satellite broadcasting licenses.
