International Telecommunication Union (ITU) approved new methodology of measuring IDI

An Extraordinary Meeting of the Expert Group on ICT Household Indicators (EGH) and Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) took place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 1-3 March 2017.  The meeting approved new methodology of measuring IDI (ICT Development Index). Head of Market Analysis and Strategic Development Department of the Commissions' Office – Rati Skhirtladze was the chairman of the meeting.

IDI defines countries ranking by ICT development, which is released annually. According to the data of the last period Korea is on the top of the ranking, it is followed by Denmark and Iceland. Georgia is on 78 position.

International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is specialized agency for information and communication technologies. One of the functions of ITU is developing standards in communications sphere.
