Commission’s staff members to undergo two day training supported by Council of Europe

GNCC, the Commission’s broadcasting regulation department employees and a Press-Secretary, with a support of the Council of Europe, will undergo pre-election monitoring trainings, for two days in Kakheti, at the hotel  Chateau Mere.

Experts of the Council of Europe, alongside with the Commission’s representatives will discuss such important issues as the role of media during pre-election period, standards of the Venice Commission during pre-election media monitoring production, media rights, obligations and expectations, the rights of political parties and their candidates, funding of informational campaigns, the rules of reporting of media monitoring results and other significant topics.

With a support of the Council of Europe, and with GNCC’s involvement, it is also planned to carry out trainings for Public Broadcaster, for Public Broadcaster of Adjara, for representatives of local and national televisions in regard to the role of media during pre-election coverage. The information related to these activities to be announced in the nearest future.

In particular, for the support of pre-election media monitoring process, with a help of Council of Europe, GNCC will select monitors by means of open competition, as well as, will undergo trainings and the monitors noted, alongside with the staff members of Commission’s broadcasting regulation department, will carry out pre-election monitoring of the parliamentary elections of Georgia of 2016.

For any subject, involved into the pre-election media monitoring process, with a support and funding of EC, the guidelines will be established.
