The Commission has made changes in the radio frequency resource intended for broadcasting

GNCC, in accordance to Article 4 of the Georgian Law “on Broadcasting” and in compliance with "International Radio Communications Regulations" defines and publishes broadcasting frequency plan twice a year. In accordance to the Commission’s May 1, 2015 decision of the approved plan - 126 radio frequencies were accessible for radio broadcasting all over the country.

In accordance to the decree № 273 of June 17, 2015, of the Government of Georgia on “Approved Schedule on Gradual switch-off of Analogue Terrestrial TV Broadcasting in Georgia,” after the completion of the process of transition to digital broadcasting, metric range frequency bands loaded in 4th and 5th analogue TV broadcasting channels   have been released, which gave an opportunity for the full usage of (87.5 MHz - 108 MHz) frequency resource provided for FM broadcasting. Thus, an overall amount of free radio frequencies across Georgian territory has reached up to 225 frequencies.

Numerous applications requesting FM broadcasting in 87.5-108 MHz frequency ranges have been submitted to the Commission from different settlements of Georgia.  At this stage, the Commission publishes free frequency resource that has been defined based on the results of monitoring.  After the completion of the process of international coordination and the agreement with the neighboring countries, the Commission will additionally publish rest of free frequency resources.
