The Commission has launched administrative proceedings based on a complaint submitted by “Solidarity Fund” NNLE against “TV Imedi” Ltd

GNCC has launched administrative proceedings based on a complaint submitted by “Solidarity Fund” NNLE against “TV Imedi” Ltd. The fund has been founded in compliance with Prime Minister’s decree N1022 in June 9, 2014. Its goal is to mobilize alternative (non-budget) resources by means of so-called innovative funding mechanisms with a participation of public, private sector and the state, in order to support vulnerable children and families struggling with oncological diseases residing in Georgia. The fund has already provided assistance to more than 115 persons. In order to inform the citizens, in accordance to the Georgian law “on Broadcasting,” the fund has addressed “ TV Imedi” in regard to the placement of a social video advertisement showcasing fund’s activities through their broadcasting net. However, “TV Imedi” has declined to grant the social status to the video advertisement and has refused to air it free of charge. This exact decision of “TV Imedi” has become the subject of dispute of  “Solidarity Fund” NNLE, and the Commission, in compliance with the Georgian law “on Broadcasting,” has launched general administrative proceedings based on a complaint submitted by “Solidarity Fund” NNLE against “TV Imedi” Ltd.

Public hearing of the case has been scheduled for December 3, 2015, at 3 pm. The Commission will make a decision within ten working days after the public hearing.
