Chief of Commission’s Radio Frequency Management Department Mr. Sergo Shavgulidze was appointed Vice Chairman of ITU-R SG5

The chief of Commission’s Radio Frequency Management Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Sergo Shavgulidze was appointed Vice Chairman of International Telecommunication Union’s radio sectors 5th Study Group (ITU-R SG5).

The elections were held in Switzerland, Geneva, within a scope of the World Radio Communication Conference (RA-2015) organized by ITU. Assembly of the Georgian delegation was led by Sergo Shavgulidze.

ITU-R study groups are formed at the World Radio Communication’s assemblies and they operate in the period between the assemblies, their task is to develop recommendations for the projects, which further will be discussed and approved by the member states of ITU. ITU-R SG5 group studies systems for fixed, mobile, radiodetermination, amateur and amateur-satellite services.

Georgian National Communications Commission congratulates Mr. Sergo Shavgulidze with an election on this honorary position and wishes him fruitful activities. It should be noted, that it is the first time for the representative of Georgia to be appointed at ITU’s elective bodies.
