4 232 GEL was deducted from “Magticom’s” subscriber

Based on a petition of the Defender of Consumer Rights under GNCC, “Magticom” Ltd has completely deducted disputed due payment in the amount of 4 232 GEL to the subscriber M.G.

On March 2, 2016, the Defender of Consumer Rights under GNCC was addressed with a complaint submitted by “Magticom” Ltd’s corporate subscriber          M.G. The subscriber was disputing the origin of due payment (4232 GEL) accrued by “Magticom” Ltd on his subscriber number for the use of internet services and the accuracy of service fee Since, according to the subscriber, he was not using internet services on corporate number noted.

Based on examination of the information requested from “Magticom,” it has been revealed, that company was unable to present relevant documentation related to the provision of internet services to the subscriber M.G and of accrued payment fee. In accordance with the “Regulations of Provision of Services and Protection of Consumer Rights in the Sphere of Electronic Communications” an operator, responsible for service delivery, before limiting or canceling services, is obligated to inform the subscriber in advance in a form of individual notice.

Having regard to the above-mentioned circumstances, “Magticom” Ltd has completely deducted disputed due payment fee to the subscriber. “We welcome company’s decision and hope, that in the future, mobile operators will ensure the wider protection of consumer interests more effectively for the purpose of implementation of decision-making practice in the Commission.”- notes theOmbudsman of Consumer Rights under GNCC – Tamta Tepnadze.
