In accordance to the decision made by Georgian National Communications Commission, “Georgian Media Networks” Ltd has passed an authorization for broadcasting.

The company already owns “Silk HD”channels which are paid channels and are available only for the certain part of Georgian population. With a new channel - “Silk Universal”- using digital broadcasting network, the company plans open air broadcasting within entire Georgian territory free of charge for the population.

 In accordance to the Commission’s decision, the type of broadcasting for “Silk Universal”- was defined as TV broadcasting, broadcasting variety – private broadcasting, sub variety – specialized broadcasting – entertainment/sport, feature and documentary films, TV shows and animation. The language of broadcasting is set to be in Georgian language with a minimum length of 14 hours during day and night.

The company plans to start broadcasting on August 8, 2015, and it will be available through digital terrestrial TV network, internet and other technological means used for broadcasting delivery.
