Media Literacy App “Happy Onlife” available in Georgian Language

The online app and board game “Happy Onlife”, which has been recognised as one of the most successful media literacy development projects in 8 countries of the European Union, is now available in Georgian language. The Communications Commission has created an adapted version of the app and translated it into Georgian language. Children, parents and teachers can now use the app to learn about safe use of digital media. The app is designed to enable children and youths to learn to critically assess and analyse online content through play. At the same time, “Happy Onlife” helps develop children’s media literacy skills and protect them from cyber bullying.

“Happy Onlife” can be downloaded free of charge on mobile devices (IOS and Android) and personal computers.

The Communications Commission, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Education, has also helped introduce the board game version of “Happy Onlife” in Georgian schools. The game is designed for schoolchildren of all ages. Initially, the game will be introduced in around 10 schools, while the app is already available to everyone.

Since 2018, the Communications Commission has been responsible for media literacy development by Georgian law. During the course of 2019, the Commission and the Ministry of Education will jointly implement five media literacy projects for children, involving parents and teachers.
