Meeting between Regulatory Bodies of Poland and Georgia

Today the meeting was held with representatives of the Office of Electronic Communications of Poland (UKE) at the Georgian National Communications Commission.

The acting Chairman of the Georgian National Communications Commission, Karlo Kvitaishvili received the Director General of UKE Mr. Mariusz Czyżak, Head of the Radio Frequency Resources Management Department, Wiktor Sega and Head of the European Projects Division, Marta Metrak. Other Members of the Georgian National Communications Commission and Heads of different Departments of the Commission attended the meeting.

The regulatory bodies of the two countries summarized the results of cooperation during the previous year and talked about future plans.

Last year the parties were cooperating on the following issues: transition from analog to digital broadcasting, expanding coverage of Internet service in Georgia, radiofrequency spectrum management, monitoring of radiofrequency spectrum and constructing EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) test laboratory.

At today’s meeting the issues were presented which will be paid attention in 2013. In the current year regulators will discuss the issues: transition from analog to digital broadcasting, “mapping” (expanding coverage areas of Internet in a country), exchanging experience in resolving disputes between operators and operators and consumers, enhancing cooperation in financing the European projects and making amendments to RTTE (Radio and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment) directives. Besides, the parties agreed to continue collaboration regarding market supervision. Polish party will facilitate the Commission’s cooperation with international organizations. Consultations on legal issues and statistical data portal (the Georgian National Communications Commission has already started working on statistical data portal) will also be continued.

According to the plan agreed at the meeting the delegation of Poland will periodically hold seminars and working meetings in Georgia. Representatives of the Georgian National Communications Commission will also make study visits to Poland during 2013.
