Meeting has been held at GNCC between ge. Domain administrator- Information Technology Development Center (ITDC) and persons authorized to provide hosting services in Georgia.

The purpose of the meeting was to announce an implementation of a new administrator-registrar model and to introduce potential registrars about registration terms and conditions in the ge.zone domain names.

Administrator-registrar implies, that a subscriber (registrar) will register desired domain name not through an actual administrator, but by means of registrars. Model noted is recommended by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) and represents the best international practice. Administrator-registrar model supports all registrars to be placed in the same conditions in order to develop better market within the conditions of healthy competition.

 At the meeting, parties discussed legal, technical and financial issues for the future co-operation. Representatives of the companies – “Proservice” and “Grena” have expressed their willingness to become registrars in the ge.domain zone.

National top-level domain.ge associated with the country has been assigned to Georgia by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. The ge.domain administrator is Information Technology Development Center (ITDC).

The use of internet addresses in ge.domain zone in Georgian language is available since Fall of 2016.
