On August 1, 2012, the meeting with entities authorized for transit of broadcasting was held at the Georgian National Communications Commission. In regard to the election date, head of the Legal Department of the Commission, Kakhi Kurashvili once again explained the obligations defined by the law to cable operators in Tbilisi. According to him so-called ‘must carry’ principle has come into force on August 1, 2012. TV companies can already apply to cable transit operators and send a signal to them, after which cable companies will be imposed an obligation to switch the channels. 

Kakhi Kurashvili stated that an exact list of legal and actual addresses of entities authorized for transit of broadcasting and other data is available on the Commission’s website. The mentioned data will facilitate broadcasters to apply to each authorized entity.

The next meeting at GNCC will be held with regional cable broadcasters on August 2, 2012, at 16:00. Today, at 18:00, the Commission will meet TV companies operating all over the country.
