“Super TV” Ltd applied to the Georgian National Communications Commission and notified that the majority of the cable operators acting in Tbilisi carry out transit of broadcasting of channels for which they are not authorized to broadcast on the territory of Georgia.

“Super TV” Ltd meant “НТВ Плюс” channels package, namely:  “НТВ Плюс Премьера”, “НТВ Плюс Кинохит” and “НТВ Плюс Киноклуб”. Besides, according to the information of “Super TV” Ltd, all the cable broadcasters are denied a right to transit “VISAT” channels package: “TV 1000”, “TV 1000 Action” and “ History” and others not only in Tbilisi, but on the whole territory of Georgia.

The Georgian National Communications Commission sent a letter to all cable broadcasters acting on the territory of Georgia and demanded to present notarized copies of agreements confirming the authority for retransmission of all broadcasting channels existing in their broadcasting net on the territory of Georgia. The Commission herewith notified the operators that in case of not presenting the requested information, measures envisaged by Georgian legislation will be taken against them.

The Georgian National Communications Commission emphasizes that the Commission is checking permanently the fulfillment of requirements of Georgian legislation by persons registered in the Commission’s departmental register, what is proved by great number of Decisions adopted by the Commission on infringement of Georgian Law on “Copyright and adjoining rights” and other legislative norms.
