Photojournalism – Media Academy Training for Journalists

The Media Academy of the Georgian National Communications Commission held training in photojournalism for media representatives. Participants learned about the core aspects of photography and photo reporting, such as the principles of operating a camera, including composition and exposition. During the two-day training programme, journalists worked with photo reporter Davit Mdzinarashvili to learn how to take pictures when reporting news and how to prepare a photo report.

In today’s world, where social media is replacing traditional press as the primary source of information, it is important for a reporter to know exactly how to deliver information swiftly and how to prepare a photo report using a mobile phone. For that reason, a significant part of the training programme was devoted to mobile photography and preparation of news and photo reports with a mobile phone to respond to the modern challenges.

Training included both theoretical and practical components. Journalists received practical experience in preparing a photo report and completed specific assignments. They also learned about balance and how to measure light.

At the end of the course, participants were issued with certificates by the Media Academy.
