Photojournalism – Media Academy Training for Journalists

The Media Academy of the Communications Commission held a three-day seminar in photojournalism for media representatives. Participants learned about the core aspects of photography and photo reporting, such as taking pictures while reporting news, preparing a photo report and distinguishing real photos from fakes. Photo reporter Davit Mdzinarashvili provided the participants with full information on the aforementioned topics.

In today’s world, where social media is replacing traditional press as the primary source of information, it is important for a reporter to know exactly how to deliver information swiftly and how to prepare a photo report using a mobile phone. For that reason, a significant part of the training programme was devoted to mobile photography and preparation of news and photo reports with a mobile phone to respond to the modern challenges.

Training included both theoretical and practical components. Journalists received practical experience in preparing a photo report and completed specific assignments. They studied the main principles of operating a camera, including composition, exposition and lighting. They also learned about balance and how to measure light.

At the end of the course, participants were issued with certificates by the Media Academy.
