Porting of subscriber number of fixed network starts from today. From now on, subscribers of fixed network are able to change telephone service provider without changing their number.

In order to change telephone service provider without changing his number, a subscriber has to go to the operator’s service centre or office and fill in an application. Initially, two weeks period is needed for porting, but during this period phone service will not be limited. Only on porting day the telephone will be disconnected for 2-3 hours. Later on, three days will be needed for porting service, as it was in the case of mobile subscriber number porting. For more information, subscribers should contact phone service operators.

The Georgian National Communications Commission explains that the success of implementation of subscriber number portability technology is measured not by the quantity of ported subscriber numbers but by supporting the development of keen competition between the operators. Promoting the competition, on its side, will be reflected directly on the tariff policy of the phone service provider operators. All this is done for the welfare of consumers, which is the main purpose of the Georgian National Communications Commission.

We remind you that the porting of subscriber number in mobile network started from February 15, 2011.

96 328 subscribers of mobile networks have made use of subscriber number porting service. 86 552 subscribers out of this already use another mobile network operator service.

Ported numbers statistics is following: as from the date of number portability implementation Geocell is the leader according to the quantity of ported numbers. For now, namely for December 1, 2011, 26 993 subscribers of Geocell have ported their numbers to other mobile networks and 40 037 subscribers have ported their numbers to Geocell from other competitor companies.

Mobitel Ltd i.e. Beeline is on the second place, which has drawn 18 742 subscribers from other companies networks and 16 803 subscribers of Beeline have ported their numbers to other mobile companies.

As for Magticom Ltd, the company has drawn 27 336 subscribers to its network and 42 726 subscribers have ported their numbers from Magticom to competitor companies mobile networks.
