“R-Radio” Ltd and “International News Agency NEWSGEORGIA” Ltd were fined 5,000 GEL for illegal broadcasting

“R-Radio” Ltd and “International News Agency NEWSGEORGIA” Ltd were fined 5,000 GEL for illegal broadcasting

 

GNCC has imposed fines upon “R-Radio” Ltd and “International News AgencyNEWSGEORGIA” Ltd totaling 5,000 GEL for illegal broadcasting. Also, “R-Radio” Ltd has been sanctioned in the form of written warning due to violation of obligations in the scope of the N B104 license.

 

After careful examination, the Commission has determined that “International News AgencyNEWSGEORGIA” Ltd was preparing radio production under its own editorial responsibility, spreading content in101.4 MHz frequency band under the name - "Radio Sputnik Georgia" through “R-Radio,” which is the joint implementation of broadcasting without proper licenses and authorizations.

GNCC, in accordance with the Article 1441 of the Code of Administrative Offences has imposed fines upon “R-Radio” Ltd and “International News AgencyNEWSGEORGIA” Ltd totaling 5,000 GEL for illegal broadcasting.

 

In the process of studying the issue of "R-radio," the fact regarding violation of the license conditions has been confirmed, in particular, violation of the obligation to submit broadcasting net to the Commission and to publish on company’s website. Which is why in accordance to the “Law of Georgia On Broadcasting,” an additional sanction – written warning has been imposed upon company.

 

It should be noted, that since November 13, after the Commission began to examine the particular issue, the "R-radio" discontinued broadcasting of “Radio Sputnik Georgia.”
