GNCC, in accordance with the decision of December 29, 2015, has announced a contest for the purpose to select number portability central database administrator. The acceptance of participants’ documents was being held up until April 11, 2016, before 7 pm. The application in regard to the participation in the contest was presented by 3 companies - „Mediafon Datapro“Ltd, “MediaProGeorgia” Ltd and “Portireba.ge” Ltd.

In compliance with the terms and conditions of the contest, any legal entity, registered in Georgia or in any other foreign country can participate in the contest, who, has provided the administrative services of number portability central database in at least two countries and an annual fee of the service noted does not exceed 500 000 EUROS.

The contest council for the selection of number portability central database administrator has been defined with eleven members. The contest council is staffed with 5 persons employed in the Commission, with 5 representatives from the largest providers: “Magticom”Ltd, “Geocell” Ltd, “Beeline” Ltd, “Silknet” JSC and “Akhali Kselebi” Ltd as well as 1 independent expert.

The first meeting of the council is to be held on April 12, 2016, at 3 pm. The council will announce its decision regarding the selection of number portability central database administrator within 10 working days after the meeting. The company selected by the council will be announced as a winner by the decision of Georgian National Communications Commission which, will ensure the provision of subscriber number portability services for the next 5 years to all telephone service providers.
