Sanctions were Imposed on “Super TV” for Unauthorized Retransmission

The Georgian National Communications Commission imposed sanctions on the cable transit broadcaster “Super TV” at the session held today.

The company via its own cable network was retransmitting the following channels: “National Geographic”, “Disney Channel”, “Travel”, “Inter+”, “Mezzo” and “Fashion TV” without any license and authorization. The representative of “Super TV” who attended the session held at the Commission, declared the company’s position in relation to the violation.

During the session “Super TV” presented the authorization for retransmission of certain channels, but for two channels “Mezzo” and “Fashion TV” the company had no relevant documentation.

After examining the proofs the Commission took the decision to impose sanctions on “Super TV”. The company was charged with immediate discontinuance of unauthorized retransmission of “Mezzo” and “Fashion TV”.
