In accordance with GNCC’s decision, “Kvira TV” Ltd has been denied to carry out an authorization in the field of broadcasting.

The company was requesting an authorization for the provision of private-general TV Broadcasting by means of internet. Accompanied documents of “Kvira TV” Ltd’s application for obtaining authorization in the field of broadcasting regarding funding sources, alongside with other sources, indicated targeted social-cultural projects funded by state organizations. In accordance with the Georgian law “on Broadcasting,” funding of a broadcaster by an administrative body, political party, an official and public servant is strictly prohibited, as well as the procurement of its services and direct or indirect funding or co-funding of broadcasters’ program manufacture and its airing, except the placement of social advertising and procurement of the services in order to prepare and/or air the information as envisaged in electoral legislation.

The Commission, after reviewing an issue and listening to the positions of the management, due to the non-compliance of the application with Georgian law “on Broadcasting,” has denied company an authorization in the field of broadcasting.
