“Mobitel” Ltd (Beeline) to restore a subscriber number for the convict

Based on a request submitted by the Consumers Rights Public Defender under GNCC, a formal administrative procedure launched against “Mobitel” Ltd (Beeline) ends with conciliation.

The Commission has begun reviewing the issue based on following circumstances: prisoner N.S, placed in the detention and imprisonment facility №8 of Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia, before his imprisonment, was a subscriber of “Mobitel” Ltd (Beeline). After his imprisonment, the mobile phone together with a SIM card (Number 571 09 0X XX) has been kept in the investigation office for 7-8 months, and the members of applicant’s family, for the purpose to maintain a phone number, kept depositing money on the balance of subscriber’s number periodically. Regardless, the phone number has been confiscated from N.S without any warning and has been sold to another person.

On November 12, 2015, during the public hearing held in the Commission, “Mobitel” Ltd (Beeline) has confirmed the readiness to settle the dispute. Later, the company has presented signed agreement form in regard to restore subscriber number - 571 09 0X XX to Mr. N.S.

GNCC will transfer the agreement of “Mobitel” Ltd (Beeline) to the convict N.S placed in imprisonment facility №8 of Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance of Georgia. After Mr N.S signs an agreement that will result the exhaustion of the dispute, the Commission will cease formal administrative proceedings against “Mobitel” Ltd (Beeline).
