Tbilisi Court of Appeals and Gurjaani Regional Court uphold the Ruling of the Communication Commission

The Gurjaani Regional Court has ruled that the Network of Information Centres violated the law by failing to comply with the regulations for publishing public poll results. The case was brought back to the Gurjaani Regional Court after the Tbilisi Court of Appeals ruled that the Communications Commission had exercised its lawful right to complete the violation protocol against the Network of Information Centres.

The case concerns the public poll results published by the information agency Reginfo.ge on 17 May 2019. By publishing such material during the election period, the organisation violated Article 82 of the Election Code. The Communications Commission subsequently completed the administrative violation protocol and submitted it to the court.

On 31 May 2019, the Gurjaani Regional Court disregarded the aforementioned protocol and dismissed the case against Reginfo.ge. However, this verdict was overturned by the Tbilisi Court of Appeals and the case was returned to the Gurjaani Regional Court, which then ruled that the Network of Information Centres violated the law.
