The 12th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium – WTIS 2014

 

On November 24, 2014, at 9:00 am, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili will officially open the 12th World Telecommunication/ICT Indicators Symposium.

On November 24 – 26, In Tbilisi, at the hotel “Radisson Blu Iveria,” " will be held the 12th World Telecommunication / ICT indicators Symposium - WTIS 2014. The event is held annually in the different countries of the world and is organized by the Telecommunication Development Bureau (BDT) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU.) It is the main global forum to discuss international ICT statistics and information society measurement. The Symposium is hosted by the Government of Georgia and Georgian National Communications Commission.

In the scope of three – day symposium, the following issues will be discussed:

·       Report by International Telecommunication Union (ITU) - Measuring the Information Society 2014

·       Discussion on 2015 development agenda and future priorities for ICT for development (ICT4D)

·       Discussion on the use of Big Data

·       Discussion on data quality in ICT statistics, approaches towards open data policies, and progress of the work for ICT for development (ICT4D)

·       Discussion on results of the work of the Expert Group on Telecommunication/ICT Indicators (EGTI) and the Expert Group on Household indicators (EGH)

In Tbilisi, WTIS – 2014,the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) members have already registered to attend the Symposium. Mainly, ICT ministers, heads of national telecom/ICT regulatory authorities and national statistical offices, heads of international organizations, chief executive officers of private sector companies, and statistical experts from around the world.
