Georgian National Communications Commission to be a Chairman of Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg Network) in 2015.

Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg Network) connects 6 countries - Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. GNCC is to be a Chairman of EaPeReg Network during one - year period. Duty of Vice Chairman in accordance with organization’s charter is to be beard upon the EU member country, this time - Swedish regulatory authority.

The Network was established in Kishiniov, Moldova in the fall of 2012, based on a proposal by The Austrian Regulatory Authority for Broadcasting and Telecommunications – RTR upon the signage EaPeReg Network charter.

The GNCC was elected as a Chairman on December 11-12, 2014, during the Prague’s Plenary Summit. Besides EaPeReg Network countries, the Summit was attended by the representatives of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as well as the members of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC). The parties agreed on the work plan and on issues to be covered for the following year.

EaPeReg Network, financed by the European Union assists member countries in development of electronic communications field. In 2013 – 2014, working meetings were held covering the following topics: analysis of different segments of electronic communications market; methodologies and approaches of cost allocations; mobile and fixed-line call completion rates; the obligation of universal service; service quality and consumer protection; international and national roaming; broadband services; NGN, NGA revenue and expenditure separate cost allocation and regulatory audit; assigning frequencies; digital dividend; benchmarking of wholesale and retail markets; challenges related to digital switchover.
