GNCC has imposed fines on three current cable operators in Batumi city – “TV Era: Ltd, “TV XXI+” Ltd and “BATUMI MEDIA GROUP” Ltd for illegal retransmission of some foreign and Georgian broadcasting channels.

The monitoring group of the Commission has carried out inspection on “TV ERA” Ltd on September 26, 2014, and it was revealed, that the company retransmitted following broadcasting channels without proper permits and licenses: „Show,”,,феникс кино,”„TV3 (In Russian),” „National Geographic,” „Баскетбол,”„СТС,”,„Футбол,” „Футбол 2,”„Россия 1,”„Теннис,”„STV,”„Silk SPORT 2,” “Silk Movie Classic,” “Silk Movie Hollywood,”,,Silk movie collection,” „Домашний.” Based on these violations, in accordance with “ The Law of Georgia on Electronic Communications,” the fine shall amount 1 percent of net income of the company for the period of last 12 months, but not less than 9000 and not more than 90 000 GEL. In this particular case, total fine for “TV ERA” Ltd amounts 18, 979.24 GEL.

The monitoring on “TV XXI+” Ltd was carried out on September 25, 2014. Based on inspection, it was revealed that the company illegally broadcasted following broadcasting channels through Georgian territory: : „Rustavi 2,” „Imedi,” „GDS“, „Comedy TV,” „Иллюзион +,” ,,TV 4,” ,,Cartoon network,”„Наш футбол,” „Show,”,,Новое кино,”„ქართული არხი,” „ენკი-ბენკი,” „РУ ТВ“,” “National Geographic,” „ТНТ,”  ,,НТВ,”,,Россия 1,” ,,Перец,”,,Eurosport,” „Баскетбол,”,,TV 3,“ (In Russian) „Феникс Кино,”,,24 Техно,”„Теннис,”,,Eurosport 2,” „Боец ТВ,” ,,RTVi,” ,,TV1000 action,” ,,Домашний,”  „STV,”, ,,РЕН ТВ,”,,СТС,”„Индия ТВ,” ,,ПРемьера,” „Кинохит,” „футбол ,” „футбол 2,” „Пятница,” ,,Охота и рыбалка,”,,Кино плюс,” ,,Кухня ТВ,”,,Animal planet,” „Discovery,”„Inter+,” „Шансон ТВ,” „Euronews.”  “TV XXI+” was imposed a fine in the amount of 9 000 GEL.

Lastly, “BATUMI MEDIA GROUP” Ltd, which has been inspected by the Commission on September 26, 2014. Since the Commission has already fined “BATUMI MEDIA GROUP” once for such violations over the past year, in accordance with “ The Law of Georgia on Electronic Communications,” the fine for the repetition of the same violation shall amount 3 percent of net income of the company for the period of last 12 months, but not less than 27 000 and not more than 27 0000 GEL. Therefore, “BATUMI MEDIA GROUP” Ltd was fined in the amount of 27 000 GEL.
