GNCC has granted permission to five broadcasting TV stationsavailable in broadcasting zones in the city of Tbilisi to use radio frequency spectrum in order to ensure digital terrestrial TV broadcasting.

The following TV companies: ”Cavcasia” Ltd,”Evrika” Ltd, “Media Union Obiectiv” Ltd and “Piki” Ltd became holders of radio frequency spectrum permits in order to ensure digital broadcasting.

Approved by the Government of Georgia, in accordance with relevant recommendations and action plan on “Transition from Analogue terrestrial broadcasting to digital terrestrial television broadcasting,” in those broadcasting areas where more than one TV broadcaster is registered, the Commission is granting permission to use radio frequency spectrum for the purpose to ensure the digital broadcasting to all broadcasters jointly which are registered in the specific areas. In this case, nine companies are holders of TV broadcasting licenses, however, the Commission has been presented by the written explanations from "Rustavi 2" Ltd, "GDS" Ltd, ”Civil Education Fund” NNLP and ”Iberia” Ltd stating that they are not willing to become holders of radio frequency spectrum permits in Tbilisi for the purpose to ensure digital broadcasting.
