TV Company Maestro Has Not Broadcast Undesirable Item

Ilia Kikabidze, general director of TV company Maestro, applied to the Georgian National Communications Commission for public information on November 7, 2012.

Because of large volume of requested information the Commission made use of ten-day term to provide public information defined by the law.

On November 8, 2012 working group of Maestro TV came to the Commission to look through the information requested the day before on the spot. They had a legal right to do this. The Commission make Maestro TV group acquainted with all agreements presented by TV company GMG to the Commission which were about permissions for broadcasting production of GMG.

Maestro TV group looked through the dates and contents of agreements presented to the Commission and found the fact that acceptance of 80 % of agreements are signed by Giorgi Ratishvili, the former head of Broadcasting Monitoring Department of the Commission and other agreements by employees of this department. Besides, other companies have also requested from the Commission agreements presented by GMG in the period of Giorgi Ratishvili’s work.

After this Maestro TV group checked one by one submission dates of these agreements in the register of received letters at the Commission’s chancellery and made copies of them.

In case of broadcasting this item two questions interesting for society would be answered: first that letters at the Commissions’ chancellery are not registered under previous date and each letter has its registration number and also signature and date of confirming acceptance. Second that Mr. Giorgi Ratishvili told a lie on Maestro TV air when he stated that TV company GMG agreements were not available for him.

Despite the above-mentioned the item was not broadcast. Unfortunately some TV companies forget the principle of objectivity.
