Visit of the Delegation from the Regulatory Body of Poland

The Georgian National Communications Commission hosts the delegation of the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) of the Republic of Poland. The official visit of June 5-7 is implemented within the framework of the Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation between the regulatory bodies of Georgia and Poland.  

Within the three-day visit meetings will be held with representatives of different departments of the Commission. The parties will talk about supervision procedures for electronic communications market segments. They will also discuss the methodology of EU-funded projects in the telecommunications field. Besides, at the meeting the Polish party will exchange experience with Georgian colleagues concerning construction of EMC testing laboratory and will talk about changes to be implemented in European R&TTE Directive regarding radio and telecommunications equipment, as the regulatory body of Poland is involved directly in this process.

The Cooperation Plan for 2013 between the countries was approved in Poland. Karlo Kvitaishvili, Chairman of the Georgian National Communications Commission, paid an official visit to Warsaw on May 29, 2013, where he was hosted by Magdalena Gaj, President of the Office of Electronic Communications of Poland. At the meetings they agreed that until the end of 2013 the regulatory bodies will again discuss transition from analog to digital broadcasting and “mapping” (extension of internet coverage of a country). The issues concerning disputes between operators and between operators and consumers as well as strengthening cooperation towards EU-funded projects, making amendments to R&TTE (radio and telecommunications terminal equipment) Directive will also be discussed. Besides, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in supervision of market. The polish party will facilitate the Commission’s cooperation with international organizations. Consultations on legal issues and statistical data web portal (the Georgian National Communications Commission has already started work on statistical data web portal) will also be continued.  

Mutual cooperation between the Georgian National Communications Commission and the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) of the Republic of Poland began in 2011.
