Workshop on EU legislation on Radio Equipment

The Georgian National Communications Commission developed the technical regulation on radio equipment in line with the EU Directive to create a safe environment that ensures the use of quality radio equipment for the users. The workshop on possible execution of the Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU was held at the premises of the GNCC. Pursuant to the commitments of the Association agreement, the draft technical regulation was elaborated by the Commission together with Twinning Lithuanian experts, which establishes a regulatory framework for making available on the market, putting into service and market surveillance of radio equipment in Georgia.

At the workshop, which was conducted in framework of EU Twinning Project “Supporting the Georgian National Communication Commission (GNCC) in developing of its electronic communications regulatory framework and operational capacities in line with EU regulatory framework”, the experts provided examples of case studies of best EU practice.

The overall objective of this EU-funded Twinning project “Supporting the Georgian National Communication Commission (GNCC) in developing of its electronic communications regulatory framework and operational capacities in line with EU regulatory framework” is to support Georgia in development of telecom regulatory framework in line with EU regulatory framework and to ensure the provision of competitive environment for all market players, in the Georgian electronic communications sector.The project is implemented in partnership with the Communications Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania (RRT), Office of Electronic Communications of the Republic of Poland (UKE), German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and Central Project Management Agency (CPMA).
