ComCom “Media Key“ Platform Now Includes Over 200 Films
More than 60 new resources have been added to the Communications Commission’s media literacy platform “Media Key,” available at www.mediatsigniereba.ge. The platform now offers educational and discussion materials related to more than 200 films and animated movies. The project is an online educational platform developed based on the Finnish model, which has been recognised by the European Commission as an effective approach to promoting media literacy. The project aims to develop critical thinking among adolescents through the analysis and discussion of films, helping them better understand media products and accurately assess media messages.
The resources available on the platform were specifically developed for the “Media Key” project by professional psychologists and film studies experts. Each film is accompanied by a brief synopsis, key values and thematic focuses, as well as discussion questions. These materials encourage adolescents to focus on key scenes, engage in collaborative and evidence-based discussion, and make the film-watching process more interactive and engaging.
The online platform features films and animations for four age groups, including children aged 4–8, pupils aged 9–11, adolescents aged 12–14, and young people aged 15–18.
“Media Key” enables parents and teachers to easily select age-appropriate films, engage children in discussions, and explore positive content together. The discussion questions help adolescents understand the central message of a film, draw appropriate conclusions, assess the substance of a media product, and formulate their own viewpoints. This, in turn, helps develop their critical thinking, logical reasoning, and media literacy skills.
The platform also includes a practical guide for parents and teachers, providing detailed instructions on how to conduct film screenings effectively. The guide also explains how films can be integrated into the classroom when teaching different subjects.
The “Media Key” platform also features trailers for popular Georgian and international films and animations. In addition, a selection of short films is available to watch in full on the website.
