ComCom Representative Takes Part in BRAF’s 13th Annual Meeting
Representative of the Media Services Regulation Department of the Communications Commission, Tinatin Chachukashvili, took part in the 13th annual meeting of the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF), organised by the Bulgarian Council for Electronic Media (CEM) and the BRAF Secretariat.
The 13th BRAF annual meeting aimed to facilitate the exchange of experience and best practices among member states on the event’s main topic, “Artificial Intelligence in Media and Regulation.” During the working meeting, the BRAF Secretariat reviewed the outcomes of the 12th annual meeting and discussed recent developments, challenges and trends in broadcasting and media regulation in member countries.
As part of the event, Tinatin Chachukashvili provided participants with information on the progress, trends and latest developments achieved by the Communications Commission in the field of media services regulation in Georgia.
The event also featured panel discussions during which representatives of participating regulatory authorities discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on content creation and distribution; media pluralism, transparency and the protection of fundamental rights; regulatory tools, monitoring mechanisms and frameworks for regional cooperation in an AI-dominated media environment; ethical principles for artificial intelligence; the role of regulatory authorities in developing the legal framework; and other topical issues.
The Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum was established in 2009 and holds its annual meeting every year. The BRAF format provides member regulatory authorities with an opportunity to exchange experience and best practices, discuss common challenges, and strengthen regional cooperation. Along with Georgia, the organisation’s member countries include Türkiye, Albania, Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Romania, Russia, Moldova, Greece, Ukraine and Serbia.
Georgia’s participation in this format enables ComCom to learn about regulatory approaches across the region, share Georgia’s experience, and apply the knowledge gained to further develop media services regulation practices.
