1.08 Million Subscribers Used Fixed Internet in 2022

Based on the 2022 activity report of the Communications Commission, the use of fixed broadband services continues to grow significantly. The number of subscribers increased by 70,600 year-on-year to 1.08 million, 95.2% of whom are natural persons. 

Magticom has the highest number of natural person subscribers (497,000), followed by Silknet (308,000), Akhali Kselebi and Skytel (60,000 each). The remaining 104,000 subscribers are spread between different small and medium-sized operators. 

Based on 2022 data, the penetration of fixed broadband services in the country was 92.7%, while the highest rate of density (132%) was recorded in Tbilisi, followed by Adjara (126%), Samtskhe-Javakheti (95%), Kvemo Kartli (82%), Mtskheta-Mtianeti (80%), Shida Kartli (72%), Kakheti (67%), Imereti (65%), Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti (61%) and Guria (55%). The lowest density rate is recorded in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti (20%). 

Fixed broadband services are available in every city and town in Georgia, as well as in 2510 out of 3385 villages. The state-supported Universal Internetization Project is being implemented for the benefit of these villages. More specifically, it aims to provide around 500,000 people in 1000 villages and rural settlements, including the population of mountainous regions, with access to affordable high-quality internet and various digital services.
