4.1 Million Mobile Internet Subscribers

According to the annual report of the Communications Commission, the number of mobile internet users reached 4.1 million in 2022, which is an increase of 350,000 year-on-year. In 2022, Silknet had the most mobile internet users (1.48 million), followed by Magticom (1.45 million) and Beeline (1.17 million).

The number of mobile internet users in relation to the population of Georgia grows significantly each year. Based on last year's data, it currently amounts to 119%. Between 2018 and 2022, the annual increase in the number of users was 8.6%.

Mobile internet traffic increased again in 2022, with subscribers consuming around 431 petabytes of mobile internet. This was due to the increase in the number of mobile internet users and the number of new generation phones on the market, as well as the expansion of 4G network coverage and increased demand for internet access.

In 2022, 4G technology accounted for 94% of total mobile internet consumption, representing a 3% increase on the previous year. In contrast, 2G and 3G traffic continued to fall.

In terms of the share of 4G traffic, the figures are as follows: Magticom – 94.6%, Beeline – 94.3%, Silknet – 93.6%.
