Average Internet Use per Subscriber Increased by 18% to 14 GB in 2023

According to the 2023 Activity Report of the Communications Commission, the volume of online traffic generated by mobile service users in 2023 increased by 28% year-on-year to 551 petabytes. Magticom users accounted for 48% of the total traffic, followed by Silknet users (33%) and Cellfie Mobile users (19%). This growth was conditioned by the increase in the number of mobile internet users and the number of new-generation phones on the market, as well as the increased demand for online services.

It is also worth noting that the average monthly internet use per subscriber increased by 18% to 14 GB between 2022 and 2023. The figure is once again highest for Magticom subscribers. More specifically, the average monthly consumption of mobile internet by Magticom subscribers was 19 GB, followed by Silknet (13 GB) and Cellfie Mobile (9 GB).

With the increase in the use of 4G technology, the volume of internet traffic generated by the use of 2G and 3G technology has fallen. By 2023, 4G technology already accounted for 96% of all mobile internet traffic.

Since Cellfie Mobile implemented 5G technology after winning the 5G auction held by ComCom in 2023, it is expected that in 2024, 5G will have a share of mobile internet traffic in Georgia. Its potential is already evident in many markets around the world, offering users superior opportunities.
