“Become a Media Literacy Researcher” – ComCom Announces a New Contest for Students

The Communications Commission will hold an analytical contest “Become a Media Literacy Researcher” between 1 October and 15 November. 

Those wishing to participate in the contest must submit an analytical paper on one of the following topics: Media and Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Opportunities; Fake Information (Disinformation, Misinformation); Hate Speech and Online Discrimination: The Role of Media Literacy. The cash prizes are: GEL 5,000 for the first place, GEL 3,000 for the second place, and GEL 1,500 for the third place. In addition, the winning works will be published on an international platform, and the authors of the 10 best works will be awarded a collection of the latest professional literature by the Communications Commission. Participation in the contest will also increase the applicants’ chances of receiving various scholarships. 

Contestants must adhere to academic standards and structure when working on their analytical paper. In addition, the paper must include reasoned and logical reasoning, a new or different perspective on the research topic, and analytical depth. The paper should consist of the following structural units: title; introduction; theoretical part (overview of bibliography, discussion); methodology; analysis and findings; conclusion; references; appendix (if applicable). 

The volume of the submitted work, excluding bibliography and appendices, should be 7-14 pages. Font - Sylfaen; Font size – 11; Line spacing – 1.15; Format - PDF; Language - Georgian; Citation system - APA (American Psychological Association) / MLA (Modern Language Association) / Chicago/ Turabian. 

According to the rules, works created by artificial intelligence, plagiarism, and late submissions shall not be accepted. The paper must not include the author's name and surname, educational institution, academic level, field of study, or any other personal/contact information. This information should be recorded only in the registration form, and the title of the uploaded work should be indicated as follows: “Competition work – author's first and last name.”
