The Communications Commission has issued licenses to Cellfie Mobile for the use of frequency resources to implement 5G internet for a period of 15 years. In the auction held by the Commission for the implementation of 5G, Cellfie Mobile won one combined and three separate lots for frequency ranges of 700 MHz, 3400-3600 MHz, 2600 MHz and 1800 MHz. The combined cost of these lots was GEL 4,497,045, with the operator paying 30% of the sum into the state budget. 

The terms of the auction included the obligation for Cellfie Mobile to allow a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) access to its infrastructure. In return, the operator was afforded a 20% discount during the auction. 

5G is a new generation of wireless internet technology that will significantly increase mobile internet speed compared to the existing technologies, decrease interruptions and take key sectors such as communications, healthcare, education, business, agriculture and infrastructure to a new level, which will inturn strengthen the country’s economy.
