Cellfie Mobile Wins the ComCom Auction to Improve the Network
Cellfie Mobile won the auction announced by the Communications Commission to improve the quality of services. As part of 4 abstract lots, the company purchased frequencies in the 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz bands at the total cost of GEL 23,598,970. Cellfie Mobile purchased the frequencies at a 40% discount, including a 20% discount based on the commitment to provide access to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). After obtaining the frequency resource, the mobile operator will be able to improve the quality of the existing network in settlements with a population of more than 20,000.
At the request of Cellfie Mobile, the Communications Commission announced 6 auctions for licenses for the use of the radio frequency spectrum, including 4 auctions in the 2100 MHz frequency band, and 2 auctions in the 2600 MHz frequency band for abstract lots. Notably, the company purchased the lots at a 40% discount. Specifically, Cellfie Mobile received a 20% discount based on the commitment to implement innovative high-speed mobile/wireless broadband services, and an additional 20% discount based on the commitment to provide access to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).
The company must provide mobile/wireless broadband services with a minimum speed of 28.65 Mbps in 90% of each populated area through its 2100 MHz frequency band by 31 December 2026. Additionally, it must provide services with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps in 90% of each populated area through the 2600 MHz frequency band obtained in the auction.
