ComCom: 2024 revenues from transit broadcasting amounted to GEL 150 million, with IPTV technology accounting for GEL 137.8 million

According to the 2024 Activity Report of the Communications Commission, 776,000 subscribers received transit broadcasting in 2024, which is 30,000 (4%) more than in the previous year. The penetration rate of transit broadcasting subscribers in households remained unchanged at 67.1%. The average annual growth in the number of subscribers over the past 5 years was 1.4%. 

According to the 2024 data, IPTV was once again the most common means of broadcasting. The number of IPTV subscribers increased by 30,000 year-over-year to 675,000. The number of DVBT technology users increased by 2,800 in 2024, amounting to 47,100. The number of internet TV subscribers increased by 700 to 13,500, while the number of users of coaxial technology decreased by 1,200 to 14,900. The number of radio frequency subscribers also decreased by 2,700 to 23,100. 

In terms of revenues, the report states that the revenues generated from transit broadcasting in 2024 totalled GEL 150 million, which is GEL 6 million more than in 2023. IPTV technology accounted for the bulk of the total revenues with GEL 136.8 million – an increase of GEL 6.6 million compared to the previous year. Radio frequency technology generated GEL 3.9 million, which is GEL 0.7 million less than in 2023. Revenues from coaxial technology increased by GEL 0.3 million and amounted to GEL 3 million in 2024. Revenues from DVBT amounted to GEL 5.7 million, which is GEL 0.6 million more than in the previous year. In the case of internet TV, revenues decreased by GEL 0.17 million to GEL 0.38 million.
